It was announced that Euan Shields will be one of eighteen recipients of the prestigious 2024 Solti Foundation U.S. Career Assistance Award. This honor was bestowed upon him in recognition of his impressive accomplishments in the field of conducting. It is the second time that this award has been received; the first time was in 2023. Presented by the Solti Foundation in the United States, this honor recognizes young conductors who have shown exceptional promise in the field of classical music and is intended to celebrate their achievements.

After being selected for this prestigious honor, Shields is now a member of a distinguished group of accomplished young conductors. It is the mission of the Solti Foundation in the United States to offer career support and guidance to conductors who have demonstrated the potential for successful and impactful careers. The foundation is driven by a passion for fostering the development of emerging musical talents.

Solti Board Chair Ms. Van Horn stated, “The recipients of the 2024 Career Assistance Awards certainly are a group to watch. This year’s applicants have diverse interests and backgrounds, a wide age range – from 24 to 36, and work throughout the United States and abroad. It is exciting to see a group of young musicians who are passionately dedicated to their chosen art form and truly excited by classical music and what it offers.”

Shields, after winning first place in the Siemens Hallé International Conducting Competition 2023, is currently Assistant Conductor of Great Britain’s Hallé Orchestra and Music Director of the Hallé Youth Orchestra.
